Hey everyone!
Hope this post finds you doing well, as I have once again lacked to update you lately. So to make up for lost time, let's get to it:
After finishing my job with Speedy, Phil came up for a few weeks. It was an amazing time having him here and we got to travel a bit too. We met Jason, Jeanne, Chris, and Austin in Washington D.C. where we stayed with Alabama's Congressman. We toured the monuments, including the Smithsonian, and climbed to the top of the Capital Dome! (Pictures will be coming soon). It was a worth-while trip, thanks to Chris and his sweet connections. I hope that my parents will be able to make the trip soon and I would like to go back again as well.
Last week Phil and I traveled to Gulf Shores where we spent some time at the beach with his brother, sister-in-law, and their three kiddos. We had a good time although I think whomever invented the nerf sword should be confined to a small room of three year olds armed with said weaponry. Then maybe they will think twice before releasing something like that into the market. The beach was beautiful and the kids really enjoyed crab hunting and I agreed as Jacob their three year old shouted: "I was having TOO MUCH FUN!"
On Wednesday Phil and I hit the road again headed to Memphis. I had an interview with White Station for a new full time position. I think it went really well, but it will be a few weeks before I hear if anything will progress from the interview. It was great to show Phil a little bit of the city and for him to meet all my WSYG buddies.
I spent Friday running errands and packing for my internship with Jacksonville. I made the drive earlier today and have arrived safely back in the grand state of Florida. So far things are going well and I am exited to get the summer started. Derek, our guy intern, will be here next Saturday and I will move into my host family's house next weekend as well.
I will do my best to keep you updated along the way and as always I'd love to hear from you!

Plans
Hey everyone!
That's right. Plans. I actually have plans.
As I mentioned in my last post, I had an interview with Mindvolt in Athens, Alabama. I really enjoyed the people there and especially Daisy the basset hound that I immediately be-friended. Hopefully some freelance opportunities will come from that meeting, and possibly a job in the future.
As of, well, yesterday I gave Speedy my two week notice. I am saying goodbye to the smells of fresh copies accompanied by the clang of filing cabinets and saying hello to 11 weeks in Jacksonville, Florida. Working at Speedy has been a GREAT learning experience but to say that I am excited about the summer would be an understatement. I will be the female youth intern for Argyle Church of Christ. My first day is the 24th of May and I will probably head down to Florida on the 23rd.
My last day at Speedy is May 1st and during that time I will be packing up my life to move back in with my parents. I'm sure my brother is jumping with absolute glee to have a "boy apartment" but I will miss it. On the 13th Phil and I are flying to meet Jeanne, Jason, Chris Lawson and my what I call "second brother" Austin in Washington, D.C. They're driving to stop at Six Flags in New Jersey but Phil and I decided to skip that part seeing how we're not avid roller coaster fans. While in Washington we're touring the White House and staying with a Congressman. I have never really seen DC before. The last time I was there I marched in the Inauguration Parade but all I can remember is being frozen in snow. It should be a great trip!
That weekend Phil and I will head to Gulf Shores to meet his brother, sister-in-law, and their three hilarious kids for some time at the beach. The kids have never been so it should be grand, especially since they're so young. Sand castles are going to happen for sure!
Two weeks ago I went to Orlando with my family and last weekend I was in Louisiana visiting Phil for the Easter Holiday. As you can see, I love to travel and thankfully my little Civic has been up for the challenge.
Also earlier today my best friend Daniel McCoy applied for the job that I'm leaving. I was thrilled to learn that he's starting on MONDAY! That means we will actually achieve our goal of having the same job at the same time - even if it's only for two weeks.
Speaking of jobs, I am hoping that something will turn up by August. I have hopes for Harvest Creative in Memphis and possibly Mindvolt in Athens, or even a church in Atlanta - but you never know what could happen in a few months.

Sunshine
Hey everyone!
Well, today was a rare and beautiful day. All week we have been slow at Speedy (ha!) leaving me with small tasks such as vacuuming and punching holes. Due to the slower pace I was offered the afternoon off, and even though my job isn't very stressful I was in need of some time away from my cubicle.
I decided to grab some lunch and sit outside in front of my old haunt, Biggin (the art building). It's a beautiful day and the first day of spring. Goregous! I soaked up a little sun and read an amazing book called 48 Days To The Work You Love by Dan Miller. Basically it discusses everything conerning your "vocation/career/job" but in a spiritual light. If you've just graduated and are swimming around in the job pool, I would highly suggest this book. I am only half way into it, but it has given me a sense of comfort and boosts of encouragement that I've been looking for.
I do have some new updates for you by the way. Let's start with the bad and end with the good. I got another generic HR rejection e-mail from Dave Ramsey. Granted no tears were shed over this rejection and I actually found it amusing. After recieving dozens of these kind of e-mails you start to see a pattern. Is there an HR template for that kind of thing? Probably. Ah well, at least it's closure.
Now on to the good news. I have an interview with a firm in Athens, Alabama on April 2nd. It's called Mindvolt and another Auburn grad works there. Apparently they have six dogs that hang out in the office, so that should be interesting seeing how I'm more of a cat person myself. I'm excited to speak with the creative director, Chad, because we met a year or so ago when he judged the student show. Regardless of how things work out, it should be a good experience.
In other news, my brother Jason and is fiance Jeanne have been in Honduras for the past week on a mission trip with our campus ministry. I'm eager to hear their stories and see the pictures from their trip. Oh and on Sunday I'm headed to Passion City Church in Atlanta with my new small group from Church of the Highlands. I haven't visited this particular church to see what they're all about but I'm going to on Sunday to see for myself. I truly enjoy the small group because it's for post-grad and graduate students. It is SO refreshing to be surrounded by people my age at a similiar place in life as well as the content of our small group is spot on. We are talking about discerning God's will for our life, how to make decisions, finances from a spiritual point of view as well as sharing what God is teaching us daily. Ahhmazing.
Well I'm going to get some work done around here, but I hope each of you have a beautiful weekend!

Marching Along
Well I can't believe it's March!
Things are going well at Speedy. We have been really busy this week and I have had little time to look up from my computer screen. I also got PAID! Wahoo it feels good to have income again!
In other news, I'm speaking to three classes of 9th graders at the Jr. High next week. I'm going to be discussing graphic design and my experiences. I'm really pumped to hang out with kids again, it's been a while.
Speaking of kids - I have some exciting news! Ready?
I'm going to be a YOUTH INTERN AGAIN! That's right - one more summer of GLORY before the real world sucks me in. If I haven't settled into a professional position before May, then I will be the next female intern for Argyle Church of Christ in Jacksonville, Florida. My fellow guy intern is Derek Nichols, and we've been friends for a few years. I anticipate another glorious summer filled with mud pits, creek walking, painting houses, slip-n-slides, teaching and building relationships with teens. We're going on a few mission trips stateside while I'm there too. I couldn't be more eager to intern again. I also think it's hilarious that God brought this opportunity my way because I recall saying to Him "I am NOT going back to the state of Florida". He loves to do that, but hey, every state deserves a second chance.
Everything else is going well here. I'm just marching along and continue to search for a professional job. I have had little luck, but hopefully I'll have some more interviews this month. I also got in touch with Harvest Creative. They aren't moving into their new office till August, so perhaps something can work out after my internship. "All shall reveal itself in due course" (100 points if you can name what movie that quote is from).

Something New
Hey everyone!
Ah well I do have a little news to share with you. I have taken a full-time job with American Speedy Printing here in Auburn. I started last Wednesday so it's all very fresh right now. I thought it would be a good idea to work in the print side of things so that when I do find my professional job I will be able to realize how the printing processes play into design.
So far it's been a mix of doing small design tasks (similar to my work at Relevant of filling in numerous templates or recreating documents) and repetitive manual labor such as sticking seals on thousands of birth certificates or making copies. I'm thankful for the opportunity and I'm enjoying seeing how design goes through the various printing processes. They run a few old-school presses and ones with plates so I hope that I might get some more experiences working with those.
In the meanwhile I'm still searching for a professional job in the South East. I just took up some contract design work with Adventures in Missions so I am very excited about that. I continue to apply to anywhere with a working email address and check search engines like SimplyHired or Monster at least a dozen times a day. I still have some hope for the Harvest design firm in Memphis, but they won't have the space to add anyone on till at least June.
That's all I have for now! Oh and my parents got a crazy little fuzzball of a kitten we named BOO - she's adorable and fierce as most kittens are. Everyone have a lovely Valentines day and as always, thanks for stopping by.

Metaphorical Filing Cabinets
These days as I hear the lovely g-mail chime I can already read the messages looming in my inbox.
"We have no available positions at the moment but we will keep your resume on file should something become available in the future. Love, Kisses, and Rainbows - HR"
Okay so I made the last part up, but really in this drowning economy those automated responses tend to flood my inbox these days. Sometimes I sit around and wonder if those filing cabinets truly exist or if it is HR's friendliest and most professional form of rejection. What has become even worse than the typical automated rapid-fire responses are silent rejections. Those are the ones that simply refuse to dignify your inquiries with a response.
I believe my favorite rejection email to date is from Skirt Magazine in Memphis that stated "We have filled the position. - Skirt"
Wow. Down to one sentence. That's a keeper because of it's blunt honesty. I have enjoyed the emails from various places across the South East that try to sugar coat their messages with "We liked (or enjoyed) your work, but we aren't looking to add anyone to our team". That's basically like saying "Hey at least you have a cute personality..."
I have to warn you - it's not smart to pray dangerous things like "God close the doors you don't want me to walk through". I think sometimes we forget that God will actually DO what we pray for! Well, I forgot and now He's reminding me in His own way.
So for now, I will continue my quest. If you have any suggestions of what I should do while being here in Auburn until...well...who knows how long, I'd love to hear 'em. As always, thanks for stopping by.

Want Ad
In recent weeks most of my job leads have turned up as dead ends. I have quickly realized just how unfriendly the economy is right now, especially if you just graduated college.
So consider this a want ad.
I am a graphic designer, searching for employment, preferably in the South East. If you know of ANYONE with a business or church or hot dog stand (ew I hate hot dogs, but you get my point) that would be interested in hiring someone for their design needs PLEASE contact me at meforrester@gmail.com

The Job Hunt Continues
Hey everyone!
Well I feel that it's way past due for an update around here. Yes, I did officially graduate from Auburn. I have the paper to prove it! Since then I have begun my epic quest for employment which continues to be a rather elusive entity. Last week I visited Memphis, TN and had a few interviews.
The first was at Speak Creative. Unfortunately they are not hiring, but I had an "informal introduction" which went well. I think if something should develop there I would learn quite a lot about the industry. They did advise me to continue to learn as much as I could about web design because that is where they are growing the most.
The second interview was for a part-time design job with White Station Church of Christ. It went very well from my perspective and I was very comfortable answering the questions that they had for me. I am not sure how this one could work out seeing that it is part-time, but you never know!
The third interview was with Harvest Creative. I have to say out of my other interviews (including the one in Birmingham in September) this one was the most enjoyable. I really clicked with the staff there, and they were very complimentary of my work. I am expecting a follow-up call at the end of the month after they decide where their new location is going to be.
Since returning to Auburn I have continued to apply for various openings in the South East and have yet to hear back from anyone else. I know that the economy isn't very friendly right now, especially if you're new to the "real world", but something will turn up.
So you might be wondering what I have been doing in my spare time. Well to answer that inquiry, I have taken up several freelance projects. I am in process with the following: Map design for the Alabama Historical Association through the University, t-shirt design for the site Politics4All (I actually have a meeting with them tomorrow morning), t-shirt series with the organization called Loveless based on India (I'm SO excited about this one, I love their apparel!), edits for the Sound of Hope so it can go to print soon, a logo design for a consignment shop in Tampa called "Fresh Threads", and a few others that I can't recall at the moment.
Through my interviews I have decided to listen to the advice of those in the industry. Web design is growing and the need for web designers is becoming very essential to secure employment. I have decided to sit in on a web design class while I am still in Auburn. Granted I did take this class in the past, but I need it again because I didn't catch everything the first time through.
So that's where I'm at for the moment. I want to go ahead and apologize if I twitch a little should you ask me the question "Do you have a job yet?" because I don't have a solid answer for you. I appreciate the inquiry though and I will be sure to keep you updated as I continue to search for work.

A New Chapter
Hey there everyone!
I apologize for the lack of posting for the last month or so. Due to my slacking, I have plenty of updates to relay so here we go!
"Ahhhh" - that my dear friends is a sigh of relief for I have, indeed, successfully completed my Senior Project. If you don't believe me, because I had doubts myself, then visit this page to view my project in its glorious entirety. I was very pleased with the end results as were my professors and Ericka Bennett from Adventures in Missions. They are planning to use the materials and begin printing them as the funds become available! It's very exciting to see my work be put into use instead of collecting dust in a portfolio.
With that said, I am graduating on the 19th which would be in exactly 4 days and 12 hours. To go ahead and answer your question I would like to state "No. I do not have a job yet." I have applied and inquired with several places such as: Speak Creative in Memphis, TN Harding Creative in Memphis, TN Harvest Creative in Memphis, TN Midtown Church in Atlanta, GA to name just a few. Obviously I would like to end up in Memphis but I'm pretty open so, if you know of anyone in need of a Graphic Designer, please keep me in mind!
In the meanwhile I will be in Auburn until I secure some form of employment. Thankfully there's a grace period with my parents ha ha! To be honest it is slightly overwhelming trying to find a job and the state of the economy isn't exactly working toward anyone's favor who just graduated college. Even so, something will work out.
Also to update from previous posts I was accepted to be a Roadie for Invisible Children. Crazy, I know! But after several days of consulting about a dozen different individuals wiser than myself and plenty of prayer I concluded that being on the road for 6 months just simply wasn't where I needed to be. Of course it was very difficult to turn down, but I didn't have a peace about accepting the position. I also thought that I have been working for four and a half years on this degree and I am ready to put it into practice which I would not be able to do while on the road. Regardless of my decision, I still greatly support this organization and who knows - maybe some other opportunities will come my way that involves IC. You never know!
I have one more final left on Tuesday then I am officially finished with my college education. Wow. It feels like I just started my Freshman year and in other ways it feels like I have been in college for 10 years. Either way, a new chapter is opening up in my life and I have no idea what the pages hold. Really. No. Idea. Thankfully God knows and He has a plan which is a great relief even when I feel the pressures after answering "Do you have a job yet?" about 20 times.
In the meanwhile, I plan to enjoy some time during the holidays here in Auburn. I will also be traveling to Louisiana shortly after Christmas so I am very excited about that time we have planned. I will be sure to keep you in the know concerning my job quest!

They are planning to use the materials and begin printing them as the funds become available! It's very exciting to see my work be put into use instead of collecting dust in a portfolio.
With that said, I am graduating on the 19th which would be in exactly 4 days and 12 hours. To go ahead and answer your question I would like to state "No. I do not have a job yet." I have applied and inquired with several places such as: Speak Creative in Memphis, TN Harding Creative in Memphis, TN Harvest Creative in Memphis, TN Midtown Church in Atlanta, GA to name just a few. Obviously I would like to end up in Memphis but I'm pretty open so, if you know of anyone in need of a Graphic Designer, please keep me in mind!
In the meanwhile I will be in Auburn until I secure some form of employment. Thankfully there's a grace period with my parents ha ha! To be honest it is slightly overwhelming trying to find a job and the state of the economy isn't exactly working toward anyone's favor who just graduated college. Even so, something will work out.
Also to update from previous posts I was accepted to be a Roadie for Invisible Children. Crazy, I know! But after several days of consulting about a dozen different individuals wiser than myself and plenty of prayer I concluded that being on the road for 6 months just simply wasn't where I needed to be. Of course it was very difficult to turn down, but I didn't have a peace about accepting the position. I also thought that I have been working for four and a half years on this degree and I am ready to put it into practice which I would not be able to do while on the road. Regardless of my decision, I still greatly support this organization and who knows - maybe some other opportunities will come my way that involves IC. You never know!
I have one more final left on Tuesday then I am officially finished with my college education. Wow. It feels like I just started my Freshman year and in other ways it feels like I have been in college for 10 years. Either way, a new chapter is opening up in my life and I have no idea what the pages hold. Really. No. Idea. Thankfully God knows and He has a plan which is a great relief even when I feel the pressures after answering "Do you have a job yet?" about 20 times.
In the meanwhile, I plan to enjoy some time during the holidays here in Auburn. I will also be traveling to Louisiana shortly after Christmas so I am very excited about that time we have planned. I will be sure to keep you in the know concerning my job quest!

Strengths
To say that I have several things on my plate right now would be a little pretentious. My epic senior project is due in 4 days and everything is going to the printer tomorrow. Over the weekend I was offered the opportunity to be a Roadie for Invisible Children which I have to decide by tomorrow if that is the path I want to take. On top of that I was presented with the maybe possibility of being a graphic designer for Adventures in Missions. (The fellow who determines this is in Africa, so at the moment it's on hold). I am graduating in December and starting a completely new exciting yet foreign phase of my life. All the while being sick for the past week with a cold. And there is one more amazing thing happening but you can just ask the details about that one :)
In regards to my future I have been trying in the past 36 hours to decipher what I am going to do with my life that will bring the MOST glory to God. I could be a Roadie which is an AMAZING opportunity or pursue a graphic design job that I am truly passionate about. Through this process a friend of mine recommended researching what my strengths and talents were so I could use them to the best of my ability. I ended up reading a book called "Strengths Finder 2.0" (which sounds cheesy) by Tom Rath. Along with the book you take a 45 minute test online to decipher your specific strengths. Well here are my top five: Positivity, Developer, Includer, Achiever, and Connectedness. I wanted to share a few of those highlights with you because they matched up so well it was kind of creepy:
"Because of your strengths, you capture others' attention with your open and talkative style. You support and inspire people. You boost their confidence and support their resolve to respond to change, overcome obstacles, acquire new skills, gain knowledge, or reach lofty goals. News
Hey everyone!
Hope this post finds you enjoying the wonderful week before Halloween. I just wanted to take a few minutes before I get too busy to update!
On Friday I was contacted by the Invisible Children office to set up a phone interview for the Roadie position. My interview is on Monday at 6pm and I'm excited to see how that works out. I have also applied for a graphic design job with Invisible Children but I have yet to hear back from that.
This week is going to be INTENSE as far as preparation for my final review is concerned. I have 4 meetings with professors and a peer review on Monday (AH tomorrow!). If it is humanely possible I plan to begin production of my pieces after the Halloween weekend. My final review is at 8am on November 13th and our show which will hang in Biggin Gallery is Monday November 17th from 4-6pm! Mark your calendars! I would just love to see you at the show!
After the 13th I can breath again and enjoy the rest of my last semester at Auburn. I still have no idea what the future will hold but I'm positive God has something pretty amazing up His sleeves.

You'll Never Know
Today I was sitting in Big Blue Bagel eating lunch with my dear friend Jess when my phone began signaling me through furious buzzes that someone had left me a voice message. I picked up the phone and didn't recognize the number so I went to my voicemail to check it out. Turns out, it was John.
From Invisible Children.
For about a year I have been bouncing around the idea of being a roadie for Invisible Children after I graduated. I have been passionate about this organization and what they're all about since I was a sophomore. If you have no idea what I'm talking about then visit their site! Basically what a roadie does is we fly out to California and live in the Roadie and Intern house for 4 weeks where we are trained on everything IC and the history as well as the present situation concerning the conflict in Uganda. After the 4 weeks we are assigned with 3 other people to hit the road and tour for 10 weeks throughout our assigned region. While on tour we host screenings of the film and advocating for the Acholi people of Uganda to promote awareness concerning the injustice that is occurring there. Then we return for 2 weeks to California for debriefing and decompressing after our travels.
Okay for my friends and family out there who read this please, please, don't panic!
I merely applied and there are hundreds of individuals who apply for this position so I am completely uncertain if it will even be offered to me. I just felt that you will never know unless you try, and when I reach the end of my life I do not want to look back with a sense of regret for not taking opportunities in life because they were uncertain.
So, I will know sometime around Thanksgiving if this is even an option.
Like I say, you'll never know unless you try.

Just Stop and Think
For the past month or so I have been slowly working through the book entitled Crazy Love written by Francis Chan. I had the delightful experience of hearing Francis for the first time at Passion a year ago - if you want to hear the talk that he gave just let me know and I can get a copy for you. I went to Passion again and Francis spoke once more. I quickly became a great fan of what he had to say and while working for Relevant this summer I came across an ad for his new book.
Eventually after the prodding of my best friend Jessica I picked up the book and began to read.
I am slowly processing everything that I'm learning but there was one thing I wanted to share with you. He has cleverly created a website that contains videos to go along with the book. I want you to take a few minutes and do the following:

I just got into studio after a rousing class in History of Christianity. I felt compelled to share and this is a reminder that the following are mainly my personal opinions so take them with a grain of salt ;)
Somehow during our lecture today about the Roman Catholic Church in the medieval time period (700 AD-ish) my professor who is an Anglican Bishop asked the following "Class raise your hand if you believe that women should be ministers in the modern church." Around four to five hands slowly emerged into the air. As soon as he uttered the question I immediately took the position that it was a trick because the answer would depend upon the definition of the word "minister". The simple word "minister" has the possibility to encompass many avenues of church involvement from preaching to serving in the toddler worship.
After the awkward silence that quickly followed a guy in the front row spoke up. For my purposes we shall give him the title "Baptist Boy" because all I know is that he's Baptist and that he's a boy.
Baptist Boy quickly remarked "Well in 1 corinthians 14:34-35 it states: 'women should remain silent' and that's how it would be in my church".
Granted I cannot convey the tone in which that was stated, but it felt condscending from where I was sitting. Growing up with my church background this particular scripture has always left a sour taste in my mouth. For years I have watched that and other verses be used out of context to make women feel inferior or even useless in the work of the church. As I sat there I wondered if Baptist Boy even considered the audience to which Paul was addressing when he made that statement or if he forgot that women were involved in the ministry of Christ even before the roots of the modern church began to sprout.
I personally believe that Paul's tone here is not one of a modern "shut up woman!" connotation. He is also addressing a specific issue that the Corinthian church was facing. In the synagogue the women sat separately from the men and had the habit of calling out questions to their husbands during the service which was distracting for the congregation. If you take a panoramic view of the Bible and more specifically the life of Jesus it is evident that He uses both men and women for His glory.
I personally believe that men are meant to be the head of the church and are designed by God to lead. Our role as women are to respect those men but it is a challenge. In the garden of Eden God annouces the curse of Eve stating: "And you will desire to control your husband, but he will rule over you". By control I believe it means our desire as women not to control the men in our lives like robots but our struggle with affirming our men and enstilling in them the confidence to lead. As women of Christ in our "silence" we have the choice to step back and build up the men in our churches which is a respectable position to be placed into, not one of inferiority. I believe that the differences between a woman's role and a man's role in the body of Christ should be celebrated - not suffocated.
Also I have heard many arguments in congregations along these lines of "women's roles in the church" and I feel that along the way many of us (including myself) have lost sight of our original purpose. Our purpose both individually and as the body of Christ is to KNOW God. That's why we are here and it is my hope that our churches will seek that more than the differences between men and women.

Updates and Confessions
Hey everyone!
Well obviously by the presence of this post I did indeed survive my mid-semester review. Overall it went well and I received plenty of great feedback which is going to make my project even stronger than I originally conceived that it could be. I had every aspect of my project worked up to a color comp and I felt very prepared for the entire endeavor. I have not received my grade or official letter of feedback, but God continues to prove His faithfulness day in and day out!
I also went to Birmingham today for my first adult interview with the organization called Student Life. This event also went smoothly and I enjoyed spending some time to get to know two of their staff members, one of which is an Auburn Alumni so we had plenty to talk about! I'm not sure if this is exactly where the Lord intends for my path to go, but as I've always said I am trying to be as open as I can to whatever direction He's tugging.
Speaking of that tugging, I have a confession to make.
For the past couple of months I have honestly been struggling with what kind of direction my life will be headed after I get that lovely piece of paper from Auburn University. After my experiences in Brasil, Memphis, and Ghana my heart really hasn't been the same. During my search for an internship I stumbled upon the organization called Adventures In Missions. (This is the same group that I am designing my senior project around too.) I met with Ericka Bennett who works for AIM and we hit it off instantly. Before our meeting while I was delving into the web site I found out about The World Race. The basic idea is as follows: You and three other young adults travel to 10-11 different countries over the span of a year. You and your team mates spend a month in each country participating in various ministry efforts with the missionaries in that particular region. I like to call it the nomadic missionary trek - but you get the idea.
As I was reading the site sometime ago a few things stuck out to me that I wanted to share:
"An entire generation that has a sneaky suspicion that maybe they're on a path that is too easy. Maybe they've been tempted to sell out to a career track and a lifestyle that doesn't or shouldn't define them. Maybe the versions of themselves that the world is starting to see is not the best one.Not just a few wild eyed adventurers are looking at this and thinking, "That's it, that's what I need to do!" Thousands resonate with the idea, maybe dismissing it as impractical, but secretly wishing they could say goodbye to society's expectations for a year and go on a pilgrimage."
"this generation will respond in numbers that overwhelm us. We owe it to them to gear up and do it right. We owe them not just this experience, but the opportunity it represents to tap their deepest yearning to not sell out, at least not before they've given a wild alternative their best shot." - Founder, Seth Barnes
"World racers abandon everything, depend completely on God, give as they go, live with the poor while building a community and a deep sense of family"
So after reading that I thought - wow that's powerful, but isn't that unrealistic? I mean how does someone just up and go be a missionary for a year? How do you know if your want to do something as insane as that isn't motivated by a selfish desire for adventure and not for the glory of God? Does God simply hop on His trusty heaven PA system to say "Hey - GO! Yea I'm talking to you. GO!"? Am I crazy for even considering such a journey?
I sat on those questions for a while, and I am still sitting on most if not all of them as I type this. Then I read a blog by a girl named Amanda that is just finishing her 10th month on the World Race. Click here to read it - and you should. Seriously.
I say all of this as a form of confessing to you that I don't have my future figured out, but I do know that I want to learn the same lessons that Amanda is learning. I admit that I need wisdom by the tons because I know that things like ministry or missions are HARD. It's not just about the sweet postcards! So I invite you to plop down beside me as I sit here sorting through my dreams and desires to discern really where God is leading me for the next chapter of my short blip here on this blue dot.

I sat on those questions for a while, and I am still sitting on most if not all of them as I type this. Then I read a blog by a girl named Amanda that is just finishing her 10th month on the World Race. Click here to read it - and you should. Seriously.
I say all of this as a form of confessing to you that I don't have my future figured out, but I do know that I want to learn the same lessons that Amanda is learning. I admit that I need wisdom by the tons because I know that things like ministry or missions are HARD. It's not just about the sweet postcards! So I invite you to plop down beside me as I sit here sorting through my dreams and desires to discern really where God is leading me for the next chapter of my short blip here on this blue dot.

Bedoins and Biscuet
Hey everyone!
I am surviving senior project - although in the next 4 days sleep will be slim to none. Anyway that's not the reason of this post! The last time I talked with you I mentioned an organization named Bedoins International. I did a sad job of really projecting what they're all about so I wanted to link this video so you could check out exactly what they're doing and how they started it all.

The fellow on the left is a friend of mine, Jonathan (aka Biscuet) Smyth and of course Stephen Devries founder of Bedouins on the right. Jonathan is in China teaching English and sharing his journey of faith with the students there. He's an AMAZING guy and worked closely with Grace Campus Ministries. For more on his life and efforts in China check out his blog - it's worth the read!
